Queensland Law Society has been advised of instances in which individuals’ LinkedIn accounts have been hacked and messages sent to practitioners fraudulently seeking services to complete transactions. The apparent ultimate aim is to gain access to funds in the recipient firm’s trust account. Thank you to those who attended the Association's Ethics CLE hosted by the University of Southern Queensland last night.

The Ladies in Law Luncheon has been reverred as a wonderful success, with more than 70 women who work within the legal industry attending on Friday, 18 November 2016.
More than 70 ladies, who attended, were able to participate in posing questions to Her Honour Judge Cassidy, and Magistrate Ryan, about matters to do with their life and the law.
Ladies in Law Organising Committee Members are hopeful to make this event annual.

On 6 October 2016, members of the Downs & South Western Qld Law Association and members of our local family law crowd attended a wonderful evening at the local Fitzy’s establishment. The evening was a wonderful opportunity for practitioners and other professionals within the Downs & South West Queensland region in the family law sector to network and socialise. Every year the Women Lawyers Association of Queensland confer awards on women lawyers who have demonstrated a high level of skill, contribution to the profession and advancement of the position of women in the legal profession. As a regional association it would be wonderful to nominate candidates for any of the categories, but particularly the category of Regional Woman Lawyer of the Year.
