Queensland Law Society has been advised of instances in which individuals’ LinkedIn accounts have been hacked and messages sent to practitioners fraudulently seeking services to complete transactions. The apparent ultimate aim is to gain access to funds in the recipient firm’s trust account. Practitioners are reminded to verify contact through independent methods (that is, phone or email) rather than relying on LinkedIn as the only contact source.
